In the Emergency Responder industry safety is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT as well as time management. Our best friend in this profession is the radio. The system we are currently using is not utilized properly. Here is the list of the radio channels that are currently programmed: TSO BKR,TSO CHR,TSO ADM, TSO DVD, TSC E-TAC, TSO W-TAC, TC EMS, TC HAZ, TC OEM, TC LAKE, ICS1, EVENTS, TRAFFIC, MANORPD, MANORPD2, and TSO EM.
Manor uses TSO BKR primarily and uses MANORPD2 and MANORPD1 as the back channel. If an emergency call takes place TSO BKR is shut down and no one has access to it. It is an officer safety issue and it defeats the purpose on why the City of Manor is paying Travis County to utilize there radio when it is limited to begin with.
The idea is to have different channels that have different uses. For example, lets say we have these frequencies LE2-dispatching calls to officers or officers checking out on a call. TLETS1-is used to check 10-27, 10-28, 10-29 for example when out on traffic, accidents, or calls that require checking someone's information TLETS2-same purpose but for a different agency PURSUIT-if an officer gets involved in a pursuit. It frees up the channels allowing officers to continue with their wrok. TAC1-Primarily used for priority calls such as domestic violent calls, hostage situations, things that normally require the channel being closed. TAC2-same idea MANORPD2-our back channel MANORPD1-back channel The current radio system we have is not Public Safety Oriented. The Radio Channels can keep the same names if necessary it is the purpose behind the channel that needs to be addressed. Stage : Validation
